As I prepare to board a plane back to Toronto following a memorable few days in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, celebrating the opening of "Come From Away" Gander, I wanted to share a really incredible story myself and @mrubinoff happened to come across this morning in St. John’s. After starting our day on Signal Hill, we noticed a very enthusiastic family waving to a Canadian Naval Ship, HMCS Fredericton, heading towards St. John’s harbour. Turns out, Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class Corey Manning was returning home from a six month tour of duty overseas. Naturally, this amateur photog couldn’t resist following the family down to the harbour and capturing the emotional reunion. Thank you Manning family for letting me capture these heartfelt moments and allowing me to share a few on social. It was a morning myself and @mrubinoff won’t soon forget.
